Privacy Policy

This is the website for the children's picture book Koda Takes One Paw Forward. It's a small, personal project, and we only collect what we need to let you know when the book is ready. This policy explains what that is and what your rights are under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors in the EU, the GDPR.

What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign up for updates.
- Whether you'd like to be a beta reader, if you tick that box.
- The date and time you agreed to receive updates, so we can show we have your consent.
That's all. We don't ask for your name, we don't use tracking cookies or advertising trackers, and we never sell or share your email for marketing.
Why we use it
To send you occasional updates about the book (and, if you asked, invitations to read it early). We do this only because you agreed to it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us.
Who helps us
A few trusted services process data on our behalf:
- MailerLite stores the mailing list and sends our emails. It is the only place your email address is kept: when you sign up, it goes straight to MailerLite and is not stored on this website, in its code, or in your browser.
- Netlify hosts this website. Like every web host, it briefly processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We also use Netlify's built-in visitor statistics, which count page views and which websites visitors came from, using the host's own records. They don't use cookies, don't identify you, and we only ever see totals.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts on this site. Your browser fetches them from Google's servers, which see your IP address. No cookies are set.
- Behold and Instagram provide Koda's Instagram feed, which loads only if you accept it in the cookie banner. See our Cookies Policy.
Some of these providers may process data outside Switzerland, including in the EU and the USA. Where that happens, transfers rely on safeguards recognised under Swiss law, such as the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After that, it's removed from our mailing list.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or withdraw your consent at any time. Just email hello@meetkodabear.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at edoeb.admin.ch, or, if you live in the EU, your local data protection authority.
Children
The book is for little ones, but the mailing list is for grown-ups. If you're under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up for you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
