Meet Koda
Not every hero
arrives with a cape.
Ours arrived with a lot of fur and deep, soulful eyes.
About Koda
Koda found us through a handful of photographs on Facebook: a scrappy, wide-eyed puppy in a shelter in Pitești, Romania, with a whole new life waiting ahead of him. He came to us at four months old, impossibly fluffy and nervous about almost everything, especially wooden floors.
Six years on, he still meets the world on his own terms. He loves standing around in lakes (swimming is a strong word) and runs circles around us when we go hiking. He has a toy raccoon named Joey and strong opinions about snacks.

A note from the Author
I've been watching Koda take one paw forward his whole life, and I've wanted to write about him for a while now. Not because he's a perfect dog in the way books usually celebrate, but because he's brave in the way real life actually asks of us: gently, imperfectly, on an ordinary Tuesday. He's an overthinker, just like me. He's sensitive, and he has fears he's still learning to face. And every single day, he gets up and tries anyway. I find that quite extraordinary.
This book began as a way to hold onto the joy Koda brings to everyone around him. It became something more. A reminder, perhaps, that courage is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes it is quiet. Sometimes it is just one paw forward - and that is always enough, especially for the little ones who are just beginning to find their own footing.
